GRAVE PLOT IN LONDON.
RAID IN WEST END PLANNED. SCOTLAND YARD ACTS FIRST. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dec. 25, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 24. Scotland Yard, which had been cognisant of a plot on the part of Communists to raid banks and West End shops during the height of the Christmas shopping, to-day took special measures to cope with disorder, and a large force of mounted police were held in readiness. The Communists planned that a force of five hundred should march from the western district to Oxford Street, and thence to Piccadilly, while a force of two thousand from the East End should march through the Strand, with Piccadilly as its objective. The Communist leadens ordered their followers who possessed firearms to use them without hesitation in order to scare the populace, but evidently the police measures overawed them, for the afternoon passed without incident.—Aus.-N.Z.
