WHAT JAPAN IS DOING. By Telexrapb.—Press Assn Copyright. Received Dec. 26, 5.5 p.m. Tokio, Dec. 24. Vice-Admiral Okado, chief of the Warship Administration Board, indicated that while material modification of Japan’s building programme has undoubtedly occurred owing to the naval holiday the auxiliary programme of several light cruisers, and perhaps twenty destroyers, now building or projected, will assure continued employment for shipbuilding workmen for at least a year. The authorities will endeavor to allocate the wonk among eight yards for the purpose of maintaining their efficiency in the event of modification of the naval holiday occurring in later years.—Aus.-N.Z.
