LORD HALSBURY DEAD.
FAMOUS ENGLISH LAWYER. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dec. 12, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 11. The death is announced of Lord Halsbury, Lord Chancellor from 1885 to 1905. He was 98 years old. Lord Halsbury was famous ar tne Bar as Sir Hardinge Giffard from tne Tichborne trial onwards.» He has been devoting considerable time to organising a complete statement of the whole law of England in twenty volumes. He took a prominent part in opposing the VQto Bill in the House of Lords, and was leader of the “die-hards” party in that House. He presided over the House of Lords Committee on the Marconi controversy in March, 1914.
