AGITATORS IN INDIA.
TWO ARRESTS MADE. CHARGE AGAINST AMERICAN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received Dec. o, 9.10 p.m. London, Dec. 5. An official cable from India announces that security proceedings have been instituted under the criminal code against an American named Stokes in respect to the alleged dissemination of seditious matter. Stokes has recently been taking a prominent part in Indian agitation, notably in certain labor questions. A notorious absconding Sikh agitator, Gurdit Singh, has been arrested. Gurdit Singh has been missing since the Komaguta affair in 1914, when Sikh emigrants returning from Canada had a fight with the police on arrival at Calcutta, a large number being killed. Gurdit Sigh, with twenty-eight others, disappeared.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
