Play in both the men’s doubles and the championships was of the highest order, Patterson, O’Hara. Wood and Hawkes all being brilliant. Brookes was not in form. In the doubles championship of Victoria Patterson and Hawkes defeated Brookes and O’Hara Wood, 6—3/, 7—5, 6—l. In the ladies’ singles championship Miss Addison defeated Miss Boyd, 9—5, s*—6, 6—3. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The following are the results of the first round of the combined handicap doubles which was completed on Frfday (best of 17 games) : Miss Greatbatch and Mace (receive 4-6 15) beat Mrs. Balharry and Balharry (owe 15), 9—7. Miss Winfield and Shaw (owe 2-6 15) beat Miss Simpson and Smith (receive 1-6 15) 9—4. Mrs. Quilliam and Archer (owe 30) beat Miss Barnitt and Stephenson (receive 4-6 15) 9—7. Miss Rockel and Etherington (owe 2-6 15) beat Miss L. Greatb&tch and Colson (owe 2-6 15), 9—7. Miss Shaw and Hine (owe 2-6 15) beat Mrs. and Dr. Brewster (receive 15), 9—5. Miss Home and King (owe 2-6 15) beat Miss Wood and Webster (owe 30), 9—5. The second round Is to be finished by Thursday, December 8.
