VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 2, 7.15 p.m. Melbourne, Dec. 2. In the semi-finals of the Victorian tennis championships singles Patterson defeated Hawkes. In the doubles Brookes and O'Hara Wood defeated Sandral and Fairley. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. Members of the New Plymouth Club are reminded that the second round of the handicap combined doubles is to be finished by Thursday, December 8. Entries for ladies' and men's championship and handicap singles, and ladies’ and men’s handicap doubles close on Saturday, Deceunber 17. Members are reminded that the last day for rebate on subscription is December 31. The Taranaki tournament will again be held on the New Plymouth Club’s courts, the dates to be arranged. HAWERA v. WANGANUI. The above representative match took place on the Wanganui courts on Wednesday. The courts played exceedingly well considering the heavy rain of the last few days. The team was represented by eight players from the Wanganui, eight from St. John’s Club, and one from Gonville, and was a very strong , te nn. The local players won by 23 matches ! to 9, and there were some close and very ! exciting wins on both sides.
