A FATAL FALL. Auckland, Nov. 28. * During the running of the Borough Handicap at Takapuna races, Heathermoon fell and the rider, Moylan, aged 21, was thrown heavily, sustaining severe internal injuries. The horse fractured its spine and was destroyed. Another horse, Navana, collided witl: Heathermoon as he lay <prostrate. In the Ponui Hurdle Race, Dead Sweet, ridden by S. Henderson, fell. The jo< ey suffered a broken arun. The two myureu norsemen wore conveyed to the Auckland Hospital. A later message says that the jock>v, w. Moylan, has died in hospital. ENGLISH TURF. The Manchester Handicap resulted: Bluedun (Carslake) 1, Air Balloon 2, franklin 3. There were 24 starters. Bluedun won by three lengths, with four lengths between the next two horses.
MANAWATU SUMMER MEETING. SPLENDID ENTRIES. Nominations for the Manawatu R.C. Summer meeting, which takes place on December 26, 27 and 29, are exceptionally large, numbering 702, and include the principal distance horses, sprinters, hurdlers and hacks in the North Island. The Manawatu Cup has attracted 34, the President’s Handicap (second day) 38, and the Liverpool Handicap (third day) 46. The principal open sprints have all filled well, 26 being nominated for the Fitzherbert Handicap, 28 for the Awapuni Handicap, and 37 for the Kawau Handicap. The minor events have all drawn big entries. Apart from the classic events, a good class of liorsfe is engaged at Awapuni. They include Rouen, Molyneaux, Kilrush, Marqueteur, Rude, Isabel, Imaribbon, Strategy, Lovematch, Festivity, Tamatete, Chimera, Statuette, Blackmail, Tigrinia, Golden Bubble, Gazique and other good ones. Whether Ellerslie or Awapuni will attract the good ones remains to be seen on acceptance night.
