"Not le.ss than 1000 a month are lost on this particular course,” said another tman, who knew. Dogs have been trained to search for them, with a high degree of success. A charity golf match has been arranged between Wilkie Bard, the English comedian, and E. S. Douglas, New Zealand professional champion, to be played at Miramar, Wellington. Wilkie Bard is to concede Douglas two strokes a hole, and undertakes to donate £5O to the fund for the Plunket Nurses’ Horae if he beats the champion. "The match,” said Wilkie Bard to a newspaper man, "will be between the best golfer in New Zealand and one of the worst.” He added that he loved the game of golf, and he held the music-hall pennant in Britain, where he had beaten, among others, Harry Lauder, at South Shore, Blackpool, Jimmy Wilde, the well-known boxer. Tommy Burns, and Joe Beckett.
