FITZROY BEACH.
* LADIES’ BATHING SHED. A meeting of Fitzroy residents, called by the Ratepayers’ Association, was held in the schoolroom on Saturday evening for the purpose of making arrangements for holding a seaside carnival on December 17 as a formal opening ceremony to the ladies’ bathing =hed recently erected. Mr. R. Parkin, who occupied the chair, said that there was a general feeling in the district that an effort should be made to re-imburse those members of the executive of the association who had advanced the money necessary to have the bathing shed erected. Funds were also required to complete the building, and to erect a bathing shed for the men. The people of the district were beginning to realise the value of the beach as a health resort, and he hoped the ceremony proposed to be held would be the forerunner of many more. A strong ladies’ committee with Mrs. Parkin as convenor, a general committee with Mr. Parkin as convenor, and an advertising committee with the secretary as convenor, were appointed. Other committees will be appointed at the next meeting to be held next Saxurday evening. It was decided to ask the East End Committee to give its assistance, ami to secure the services of the band if possible. Special arrangements are to be made to cater for the children; and judging from the enthusiasm shown by the residents present a very successful function should ensue.
