PROSECUTION WEAKENING. “COMPLETELY BAFFLED.” Ey Telegraph.—Press Asjn —Copyright. Received Nov. 24, 7.25 p.m. Paris, Nov. 23. Landru was in a jubilant mood, today, the prosecution weakening and ' shifting ground in consequence of i Mademoiselle Segret’a evidence. I The president asked Landru how he 1 disposed of his victims, adding: “The I prosecution is loyal enough to tell you • it is completely baffled and must now I fall back on theories. We know you : possessed firearms and also empty ■ bottles of poison. You were also adept ! at strangulation, because you* hanged ‘ three dogs.” Landru retorted angrily: “I protest I strongly against this farce. You were unable to find even a portion of one I body, but you still accuse me of crimes.” [ Several neighbors at Gambais, who [ were called to bolster up the case for ; the prosecution, appeared very confused one saying he saw a woman’s head floating in a pond near Landru’s villa. He told no one and was not able to remember the date.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
