• WAR MEMORIAL AT WALTON. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. London. Nov. 20Sir James Allen unveiled a memorial at Walton-on-Thames commemorating the fact that 27.000 sick and wounded New Zealanders were nursed in the local hospitals. The memorial is erected at the entrance to a new thoroughfare called New Zealand Avenue. Received Nov. 21, 5A pm. London, Nov. 20. Sir James Allen, when unveiling the memorial tablet at Walton-on-Thames, where 27,000 New Zealanders were treated in two hospitals, said more New Zealand units were represented in the local cemetery than in any other part of Europe or Egypt, for which reason Walton was more New Zealand than any part of the Empire The Maoris, who were only intended for garrison duties, persisted in going to the front and fighting till they fed. The tablet is to be erected later at the entrance to the new thoroughfare called Hew Zealand Avenue.
