The Daily Express’ Constantinople correspondent reports that, according to reliable information from Angora, the Nationalist Government, believing the British intend to support the Greeks in the forthcoming discussions on the Eastern question, have decided to take energetic action against Mesopotamia, with a view to obliging the British to retain considerable forces there.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. FRANCE AND TURKEY. THE NEW~AGREEMENT. Received Nov. 20, 5.5 p.m. Paris, Nov. I<B. The reply to the British objections to the Franco-Kemalist agreement is couched in the friendliest terms. It points out that the evacuation of Turkish territory is dependent on guarantees t of the Turkish minorities, which the Al- ' lies are unable to obtain. It believes this is better than the complete deadlock hitherto prevailing. France is willing that the Angora agreement should later be incorporated in a general agreement with Turkey, which should be part of a general settlement of the Near Eastern question.—Aus.-N.Z.
