CHRISTMAS READING.
DAILY NWS SUPPLEMENT. SEVERAL COMPETITIONS. The special Christmas Number of the Daily News will be published about the middle of December. Last year’s number met with such a splendid welcome throughout Taranaki that it gave encouragement for similar enterprise on a larger scale this year, and preparations are now in hand to make this Christmas Number a notable journal full of master of unusual interest to Taranaki readers.
The Christmas Number will be full of reading matter of particular interest to Taranaki, and while all the features of last year’s number will be preserved, others will be added. It will contain original reading matter relating to the early history of Taranaki, competitive stories and anecdotes, school children’s essays, With special articles of interest to women and pages of original sporting stories and topics. A feature of last year’s was its originality—there were none of those stories you had read somewhere else —and this year arrangement® have'been made for a variety of special articles by writers who know their subjects. The competitive section, which last year drew entries from all over Taranaki, and also from the Auckland and Wellington districts, will be enlarged on this occasion, and wall comprise seven distinct competitions, for all of ,which good money prizes will be offered. There will be a short story competition, essay classes for school children, a special competition for girls, 'and dther competitions which will interest husbands and housewives. Full details of the competitions will be published in this column tomorrow morning. Entries will close on November 30.
