TRAIN SERVICES.
NEW PLYMOUTH TO HAWERA. IMPROVEMENT PROBABLE. (By Wire —Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, Last Night. Mr. S. G. Smith (Tananaki), asked the Adring-Minister of Railways whether, in view of the necessity for increasing the railway revenue, he would arrange an improved and adequate railway service between Hawera and New Plymouth, so that the train service might compete successfully with the present motor service now in operation between the towns named’ The mixed trains now running between Hawera arid. New Plymouth occupy more time on the journey of 48 miles than they did 25 years ago, despite the introduction of improved running track, rolling stock and safety appliances. The Acting-Minister of Railways replied that the train service between Hawera and New Plymouth ie at present under review, and it is hoped to make some improvement to the service referred to. ’
