PERSONAL.
Mr. and Mrs. W. O’Callaghan, who have been on a world’s tour for the past two years, have returned to Hawera. The many friends of Mr. Arthur A. Huse will be pleased to hear he has passed in terms in chemistry, physics and zoology at the Otago University. Mr. E. P. Webster, who has been on a visit to Australia during the past few weeks, leaves Sydney to-day by the Makura en route to Auckland. Mr. W. H. Skinner, who is at present in a private hospital at New Plymouth, is making excellent progress. A Wellington message reports the death of Mr. G. E. Tolhurst, ex-resi-dent inspector of the Union Bank of Australia. The death, is announced of an old and .respected officer of the Salvation Army in the person of Adjutant Lane. For thirty years the deceased gentleman was associated with the district, his charges being Palmerston North, Feilding, Bulls, Marton, Sandon, and Wooa* ville. He was also stationed in Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay. His death, at the age of 55 years, will be regretted by a large number of friends. The Right Rev. Dr. A. W. Averill. Bishop of Auckland, who is spending some time in visiting portions of Taranaki, returns to New Plymouth to-do? from the North Taranaki country districts, and .wifi give an address at the Church Chpirs’ Festival service, *tp be held at St. Mary’s to-night. To-morrow Dr. Averill attends a memorial service at Tariki, and jn the evening will be I present at the unveiling of a roll of honor at Egmont Village. He will conduct services in the Inglewood parish during the week-end, and will visit the Whangamomona district prior to returning to New Plymouth ou Wednesdayi
