INCIPIENT FIRE AT SEA.
VESSEL NOT DAMAGED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 9. An outbreak of fire took place in No. 3 hold of the City of Chester on November 1, on the voyage from New York to Auckland. The hold was flooded, but not until last Friday evening was it effectually extinguished. There was petrol and other cargo in the adjoining hold. Fortunately the fire did not extend, and the vessel was not damaged.
