ARBITRATION COURT.

MINERS’ DISPUTE. By Telegraph—-Press Association. Dunedin, Nov. 8. In accordance with the decision of the mine owners not to enter into a national agreement, but have district awards, the Otaga and Southland owners applied to the Arbitration Court for an .award. The unions were unrepresented. The employers called evidence as to general conditions, it being stated that the collieries were faced with a serious outlook owing to the large importations and depressed trade generally. It was contended that the policy of the union leaders not only lost the owners’ trade, hut made work scarce.
