ATHLETICS.
NEW PLYMOUTH ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Association was held last night, when there was a good attendance and Increased was shown. The New Zealand Athletic Association wrote stating that it was proposed to form a North Island west coast centre, including Wanganui, Hawera and New Plymouth, and asking for suggestions in furtherance of the scheme. It was decided to write to the secretaries of the ohter associations mentioned in regard to the best lines to pursue. Arrangements were made for an evening athletic meeting to be held in the second week in December, when the events will Include 100 yards, quarter-mile and one-mile races. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. W. H. Moyes, the staff and boys of the High School for their services, and to Mr. E. Jackson for the donation of a 161 b shot to the association. 'An effort is to be made to collect outstanding subscriptions at the earliest possible date.
