VICTORIA R.C. MEETING. CONCLUDING DAY’S RESULTS TANGALOOMA BINS FISHER PLATE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 6. 5.5 p.un. Melbourne, Nov. 6. The weather was fine but dull for the concluding day of the Victoria Racing Club’s spring meeting yesterday. The attendance was large. Rain fell overnight, but the going was good. Heir Apparent finished strongly in the Bat- ! man Stakes and won nicely from Harvest 1 King, who was leading at the distance. Duncan rode his fourth winner at the meeting in the race. Polynesian took charge on the far side and led over the last ;hree furlongs in tte Flemington Stakes and won nicely. Th© time for the race was a record. There was a great race for the V.R.C. Handicap. King of the Sea, on the rails, scored by a narrow margin in the last half furlong from Wildun, who made the pace. Sinbad the Sailor was a bad third. This was Duncan’s fifth winning mount at the meeting. Compromise fell when going well. In the Steeples Doiran led over the last five furlongs and won easily. The rider, Mooney, won the same race last year. Furious and Violoncello were scratched on the course for the Fisher Plate. Nautical had a big lead In the early, stages, but retired. Tangalooma. was first into the straight and won easily, ridden by Cairns. Tlija gave the trainer. Holt, his fifth win at tte meeting. The value of the stake to the winner was £1137. Tie Derby resulted: Lawn Mower 1, Ladamond 2, Wogasuia 3. Won by four lengths Time, 2min. 34see.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. , TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.”) The Canterbury Jockey Club’s metropolitan meeting will be advanced another stage today, when the New Zealand Derby Stakes, of 1500 sovs. will be the principal attraction. -Ocher good stakes offering are the Metropolitan Handicap, of 1500 sovs. one mile and a half, and the Criterion Handicap, of 1000 sovs, seven furlongs. A new departure is the Acorn Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, with penalties a-9 follows; Winners of 2ufi sovs, 51bs.; 200 sovs, 71bs.; 500 sovs, lOlbs.; and 700 sovs, 141bs. If Epitaph starts she may prove equal to carrying her penalty with distinction. To-day’s Derby Stakes promises to attract a fine field. Including Cupidon, wto beat that fine filly Furious in the A.J.C. Derby. Furious has since won thh Victoria Derby and Other big races, and Randwick form makes Cupidon out to be a very fine stayer, 'though anything appears to be able to beat him on the tracks. Tamatete, The Hawk and Winning Hit mayrun the distance out, and of the trio The Hawk is best bred to stay. However, they have not run over twelve furlongs yet, and Cupidon should fave it well on them in this respect. Mr. G. D. Greenwood won the race with Danube (1910), Cherubini (1913), Gloaming (1918), and Rossini (1919), and with Cupidon and Coniston engaged to-day his colors will take some beating.
The Auckland R.C. spring meeting will he concluded to-day. Maniahera is very fit at present, and Is worth following. Radiant Light (Demosthenes—Sunlight) should be hard to beat in the Oaks on Wednesday. Tinihanga’s front joints bear an ugly appearance, and it is feared that she may not stand long. Hector Gray was booked to leave England early this month, and all going well will be riding at the Auckland Cup meeting. It. is stated that he will retuijn to the. Old Country in time for next season’s racing. Mermin, who was purchased by Mr. R. G Gove (Sydney) for, it is alleged, 3000 guineas. Is to join Bradfield’s team at Flemington, and will probably sport silk in 'Stralia before being shipped to India. Considering the quality of the three-year-olds seen out in Australasia this season Mermin appears to have been well sold. Weights for the Asl'hurt—l’ohangina annual meeting, which takes place, on November 23, are due to appear to-day.
