BOXING.

ELTHAM ASSOCIATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting of the Eltham Boxing Association was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. H. D. Forsyth presiding over a good attendance. The' match committee reported that they had matched Stewart Smith, of Australia, with "Billie” Prqston, of Australia, for the lightweight professional contest to be held on November 23. The committee was complimented on having been successful In arranging such I an excellent contest, it being explained that j tills Lout would be the best staged in New ; Zealand. The match committee also reported [ that they anticipated no trouble in arranging | first-class preliminary bouts for the same evenj ing. The following officials were then appointed i for the forthcoming tourney: Publicity committee, Mr. C. Harrison (convener) ; timekeepers. Messrs. Nllepherd and Gibson; glove steward, Mr. J. Cooper; hall committee, Mr, C. Harrison, (convener) ; elerk of scales, Mr. C. R. K. Cumming; announcer, Mr. H. D. Forsyth ; seconds, Messrs. J. and R. Carlson, W. O’Neill and I'. Hawke; ticket office, Mr. G. W. Bennett and staff; refreshment committee, Messrs. H. and L Nodder and J. Best. The president (Mr. H. D. Forsyth), in presenting Mr. Turnbull (late secretary nf the Eltham Boxing Association) with a g-ild watch, suitably engraved, said that Mr. Turnbull bad rendered a great service to the association. He had borne the brunt of the initiating work > of the association, anj) now this body took 1 great pleasure in presenting him with a small token of the esteem in which he was held by ■ the association. Several .speakers also cuir- i gised Mr. Turnbull’s untiring efforts. Mr. Turnbull suitably responded.
