WATERSIDE TROUBLE.
A DISPUTE OVER WAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. No work has been done on the steamer Waitemata since midday yesterday owing to a dispute ' between- the Union •Company and the watersiders. The vessel has a quantity of bone manure similar to the usual Indian shipments, and the watersiders, objecting to the smell, demand 3s an hour. The award rate for bone manure is 2s 7d, threepence over the ordinary rate. The matter was referred to the local disputes committee, which could not agree, and suggested referring the matter to the national disputes committee. The workers objected, and it is understood the workers eommuni<;ated with the W atersiders’ Federation and that work will be resumed to-morrow.
