GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S VISIT.
TOUR IN NORTH TARANAKI. NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAMME. FINAL DETAILS ARRANGED The visit of Their Excellencies th Governor-General and Lady Jeilicoe ta North Taranaki will take place next week. The vice-regal party will arrive in New Plymouth, via Opuuake, by motor on Thursday evening and during their stay in New Plymouth will be resident at * the White Hart Hotel, where a suite of nine rooms has been reserved. On Thursday evening Viscount Jeilicoe will pay an informal visit to the Taranaki Club and her Excellency will inspect the Blanket Society’s rooms in Brougham Street. The public reception at New Plymouth is fixed for 11 o’clock on Friday morning, at the Boys’ High School grounds. Their Excellencies will proceed via Devon Street and Eliot Streets. At the grounds special provision is be- ** ing made for school children in charge of their teachers, space for 2000 being reserved. They will be expected to assemble on the grounds not later than 10.30 a.m. .The general plan of accommodation should enable the pul • to get a good view of proceedings. A da's is being erected for the accommodation of the official party. Citizens should be in good time, as*the main gates will be closed shortly before 11 a.m., and after this admission to the grounds can only be obtained by a more circuitous route. Seating accommodation will be provided for about 1000, of which part will be reserved for the mothers and wives of fallen soldiers and for veterans. Car owners who intend being present at the reception should note that cars cannot be parked on any- adjacent streets except on the Avenue Road above the High School. On Friday afternoon their Excellencies attend at the opening of the Clarke Memorial Hostel, where the ceremony id to be performed by Lady Jeilicoe. Other times during the day will be occupied by visits to various parte of the town, including Marsland Hill, the hospital, . and the golf links. A -citizens’ ball in honor of their 'Excellencies’ visit has been arranged for the evening. On Saturday morning their Excellencies visit the North Egmont Mountain House, and after luncheon there proceed to Inglewood and Waitara. Official receptions will take place at each of these towns. At 8 p.m. his Excellency attends the Savage Club and her Excellency will be privately. Their Excellencies attend St. Mary's Church on Sunday morning, and in the afternoon will be taken for a drive in the country. They return to Wellington on Monday morning.
