AMERICA AND GERMANY.
PEACE STILL UNSETTLED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 16, 11.5 p.m. Washington, Oct, 15. Opposition to the ratification of the German treaty now so strong, due to the activities of ex-President Wilson, that it is causing Republican leaders great concern. They feel after the canvass that all the votes for ratification will not show a majority of more than three. Therefore they have decided to postpone the final vote until Wednesday and possibly until later. It is understood President Harding urged Governor Sproul of Pennsylvania, to appoint the late Senator Knox’s successor quickly in order to assure that the greatest number of Republicans will be present in the event of the possible absence of some Senator during the vote.
