VICTORY FOR COMMUNISTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Brisbane, Oct. 13. The Labor Conference, after carrying the socialisation resolution, warmly debated the details of the scheme. Mr. Theodore warned the delegates that if the conference adopted certain proposals contained in the agenda, including the establishment of an elective economic council by all the nationalised industries, it would mean the end the Labor movement. They had changed the objective of the party and might as well change the/name to the Communist Party. There was bound to be a split in the movement, the ostensible object of which was pandering to certain extreme industrialists. The supporters of k the agenda contended that the present methods had failed, and that something more progressive was necessary. The majority of the speakers, however, opposed extremist communistic ideals and eventually an amendment was carried by 21 votes to 10 in favor of employing constitutional methods in securing the objective. . A resolution was adopted in favor of a caucus Press campaign. SOCIALISATION OF INDUSTRY. Brisbane, Oct. 12. The Labor Conference carried a motion for the socialisation of' industry.—Aus.N.Z.
