SYDNEY FLAG INCIDENT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Sydney, Oct. 13. The town clerk of Sydney, it is reported, had a difference with the Lord Mayor over his refusal to substitute the Australian flag for the Union Jack on the occasion of Mr. Storey’s death, and asked to be relieved of responsibility -for flying the flag. The finance committee deferred consideration of the report. UNIFORM RAILWAY GAUGE. Received October 13, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, Oct. 13. The uniform railway gauge commission unahimously recommended 4 feet ■BA inches as the’standard gnage for Australia. The cost of transforming the main trunk line from Fremantle to Brisbane is estimated at 18 millions and the cost of converting all the lines, except those in Tasmania, 57 millions. REPORTED SALE OF WHEAT. Received October 13, 10.40 a.m. Melbourne, Oct. 13. It is reported in grain circles that the Victorian pool has sold 20,000 tons of .wheat at 54s 9d per quarter (6s lOd per bushel) for shipment early in the New Year.
