TARANAKI CENTRE. • MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the TnranakL Bowling Centre was held in tte Soldiers’' j Club, New Plymouth, last night, Mr. .T. D. Sole (president) occupying the chair. Tlie opening date tor ,‘ ie annual Taranaki tournament was fixed for Monday, January 23, the conditions to be the same as last year, namely, two games of 25 heads each day. Correspondence was read from various clubs regarding colors, and these were fixed. ARRANGEMENT OF DIVISIONS. A communication was received concerning the desire of the Patea Club to affiliate with 1 lhe .Taranaki Centre Instead of Wanganui, ; and it was decided to fall in with tte wishes I of the Patea Club subject to the approval of .the Dominion Bowling Association. ! If the transfer is granted In will probably I mean a re-arrangement of the divisions of the Taranaki Centre for the banner competition, and the executive decided to communicate with dubs submitting the following proposal: Southern division to comprise Patea, Hawera (A. and B.), and Park; central, Eltham, Stratford, and Inglewood; western and northern areas to remain as at present. BANNER COMPETITION. Play In the banner competition will commence on October 29, and the draw for the northern division was left in the hands of Messrs. A. K. Smart and A. T. Moore. The Gilmour Clip, which was formerly a separate competition, will be decided on the banner matches, and the- winners of the competition will automatically become entitled to the cup also. GENERAL. Mr. W. N. Ewing was appointed auditor to the Centre, and Mr. F. J. Hill was appointed assistant secretary. The Dominion Association notified that Its levy had been Increased from 3d to 6d per member, reducible by 25 per cent, if paid by December 1. SEASON OPENS TO-MORROW. Clubs in New Zealand will begin the season officially to-morrow. At the Fitzroy, Vogeltown and West End greens opening ceremonies will be held, but though the New Plymouth greens will be opened for play, the official ceremony will not take place till November, when the new pavilion will be ready. Generally, greens are in very good condition, and should play well' the weather "conditions in the past few months having been very favorable. Advantage has been taken by a number of clubs to effect improvements, and at Fitzroy the tea kiosk has now been completed. This will give more room in the pavilion, and a number of extra lockers are being installed.
