THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY.

PROSPECTS FOR THE SEASON. . A FAVORABLE START. The season for dairying in TaranakiIs now well launched and the favorable climatic conditions which have been experienced in the province have given a filip to production. Speaking to a Daily News reporter yesterday a gentleman in close touch with the industry states that factory outputs generally show a substantial increase compare! with last season. The opinion of farmers was that this is the finest spring they have had for many years, and that the conditions are ideal for dairying. Though the conditions at Home At present are not too stable the state of the market is attributed to the fact that the Government reserve stocks are now being cleared, and that the authorities are prepared to make a cut now to secure a clearance before the new season’s Australasian output is landed.. “I believe,” the informant stated, “that when the Government stocks are cleared you will see a better price for both butter and cheese, and I would not be surprised if some cheese factories which are now making butter change over again at the end of the year, and manufacture cheese for the balance of the season. What the market will be eventually is hard to guage, but it is hoped that the present increase in production can be maintained. If so it will go a long 'way towards compensating the producer for the falling-off in the price as compared with last year.” In dairying circles shipping prospects are regarded as being more favorable this year and the produce is being got away promptly. No serious delays are anticipated in this direction. The liner Port Lyttelton, which sails froon New Plymouth en route for Home to-day, will have on board most of the September output, including a large proportion of first grade make, and the arrival of this on the 'English markets should give some criterion of what quotations for the season will average.
