VISIT TO NORTH TARANAKI. THE PROPOSED PROGRAMME. AN INTERESTING TOUR. Tn connection with the visit to New Plymouth l of Their Excellencies ths Governor-General and Lady Jellicoe, commencing on the 27th inst., the Borough Council last night adopted a programme for the tour. The suggestions, which will be forwarded for Their Excellencies’ approval, are as follows: Thursday, October 27. — d p.m.: Their Excellencies to be met on arrival by the Mayor and councillore, informally. S p.m.: Informal vieit of the GovernorGeneral to the Taranaki Club; Her Excellency visits the Plunket Society’a rooms in Brougham Street. Friday, October 28.—9.30 a.in.: Leave hotel for Maryland Hill. 10.15 a.xn.: Visit Public Hospital. 11 a.m.: Arrive Pukekura Park, inspection of guard ol honor, official reception and presentation of address; presentation of leading citizens; noon, return to hotel 3 p.m.: Official opening of the Clarke Memorial Hostel. 4 pan.: Drive tc golf links (2| miles). 8.30 p.m.s Citizens’ ball. -
Saturday, October x 29.—-9.30 a.m.t Leave for mountain; 12.15 p.m., luncli at hostelry. 1.15 p.m.: Leave for Inglewood. 2 p.m.: Official reception Inglewood. 2.45 p.m.: Leave for Wai« tara. 3.30 p.m.: Official reception Waitara. 4.15 p.m.: Leave on return trip to New Plymouth. 8 p.m.: His Excellency attends Savage Club: Her Excellency to be entertained privately. Sunday, October 30. —11 a.m.: Theii Excellencies attend Anglican Church. 2 p.m.: Leave hotel for drive in the country. Monday, October 31.—7.20 a.m.: Departure of Vice-Regal party for Wellington. Business people will be asked to close their premises from 10.30 a.m. to 12 (noon) on Friday, the day of the public reception. °I do not propose to declare a holiday,” remarked the Mayor (Mr. F. E. Wilson), “as the previous Monday ia a holiday (Labor Day).”
