Mr. Clark McConachy, a New Zealand billiardist, receiving 1000, began his first match to-day, meeting Melbourne Inman in a game of 8000. Inman was in great form, and was scoring heavily. The New Zealander began tamely, being obviously' unaccustomed to ivory balls. His best breaks were 50 and 97. The scores at the interval were: McConachy 1318; Inman 667 in play.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. He won the New Zealand billiard championship at Auckland from Stevenson.some six years ago. Subsequently he went to Australia, making there a great reputation. Recently be toured India and South Africa. /During his sojourn in South Africa he defeated all the leading professionals.
