HUNGARY’S MILITANCY.

QUESTION OF BURGENLAND. POSITION UNSETTLED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, October 3. There is anxiety in authoritative quarters in London regarding Burgenland, as hitherto there are no signs of preparation for carrying out the evacuation terms of the Allied ultimatum, which expires at midnight. It is noteworthy that the Allies still have not agreed upon the nature of the military steps against Hungary in the event of non-evacuation. A leading American financier who returned to Paris after four months’ journey in the small States of Eastern Europe says everywhere he found signs of feverish arming, hampering attempts at reconstruction. Money was being squandered on war policies, instead of on economic policy. The chief distributing element was Hungary. He declares that so long as this situation contines America wil’ decline to extend sorely-needed long term credits.
