THE SESSION.
PARLIAMENT RESUMES TO-DAY. MR. R. MASTERS’ CHARGES. THE RACING REPORT. Parliament will resume this afternoon. The week in Parliament should be more interesting than its -predecessors (says the Times). First of all we shall have Mr. Massey occupying his old place in the front row of the Goy? eminent benches, and it is expected that he will have a good deal that is interesting to tell the House. In addition, everyone is awaiting the Government reply to Mr. Masters’ charges, and, further, the gaining discussion is not far off. Mr. Masters’ allegations have created widespread interest, and inside and outside Parliament the probable outcome is being keenly discussed. Various members appear to be desirous of making reference to the matter, but it seems likely that they will wait till after the Ministerial reply has been made. The Minister in Charge of the Boarid of Trade is the Hon. E. P. Lee, but it has been suggested that Mr. Lee was out of New Zealand when some of the doings referred to in the allegations are supposed to have taken place. It was rumoured during the week-end that in all probability the recommendations of the Gaming Commission would be presented to Parliament this week. If they are, full galleries are assured, and there is eveiy prospect of interesting debates and keen contests on the floors of both Houses. The feeling prevails that the report will be rejected.
