INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Sept. 24. The Catholic social and dance at the Town Hall on Thursday was a complete success, some £l7 being taken at the door, while receipts per ticket are, as yet, not available. The dancing floor was fully occupied. Music by Miss Curd’s orchestra encouraged willing feet, and the services of Mr. P. Chapman, M.C., ensured prompt response to the music’s challenge—in fact, the dancing never flagged until the small hours of Friday were reached. In the early part of the night euchre claimed its votaries; fourteen tables were occupied, and when time was called at ten o’clock by Mr. W. H. Egarr, who was in charge of that department, the results showed that the ladies prizes were won: First by Miss Barrett (of Pungarehu) ; second, a tie between Mrs. Biesick and Mrs. King, decided by a cut of cards in favor of Mrs. Biesick. The gentlemen’s prizes were won: First, by Mr. A. Clough; second, by Mr. E. M. Gibbs.
