POLICE FOLLOWING A CLUE. Timaru, Sept. 22. In connection with the murder of Constable Dorgan, the police are seeking the assistance of the public to trace two men who left Timaru on a noisy motor-cycle on the night of the murder, and were hoard passing through Temuka, Geraldine, Arundel. Ashburton, and Chertsey. They called at a store at Dunsande'l at 8 a.m. for petrol, but the elderly storekeeper there took no note ol them by which ho could recognise them. Tracing this journey gives interest to a noise something like a pistol shot which was heard by those standing beside the body of the murdered man in the street, and Which was supposed to be a back-fire by a motorcycle engine.
