THE NEW PARTY.
‘ COMMON GOOD OF ALL.” B, Telegraph —Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. Mr. C. E. Statham, M.P.. leader of the Yecently-formed National, Progressive and Moderate Labor Party, delivered an address to-night before a large attendance. Mr. Statham dealt with the bairns, objects and aspirations of the _j»ew party, whose motto was: “The common good of all.” He considered Ihat the Upper House, consisting of about forty members at £3OO a year, was a wanton extravagance. The Upper House should be turned into a revising chamber, consisting of fifteen £nen, who should be nominated by the Government and approved by Parlia, ment. He strongly condemned Govern•ment by regulation. The meeting was ienthusiastic throughout, and the speaker received a splendid hearing.
