ILL-TREATING CHILD.

HARD TIME ON A FARM. By T«legr.inh —Press Assoelatlci. Christchurch, Last Night. John William Clark, a dairy farmer, of Hallswell, was to-day sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for cruelly ill-treat-ing a child. Defendant was before the Court on this charge in February, and was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and his children taken from him. The children were restored to him in April, and the home kept under surveillance. It was recently found that one girl, aged 13, had to milk ten cows night and morning, and as a result Clark was brought before the magistrate and sentenced as stated.
