FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT.
The Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society of New Zealand Ltd., report:—
At Okaiawa on Monday we had a very good yarding. Prices wore on about a par with late rates. Weaner pigs made 255, hoggets 10s, sound young empty cows 30s to 255, store cows IDs to 20s, forward cows to £3 10s, empty 2-year Jersey heifers £7, yearling ditto £6 6s to £l2. mixed breeds to £3 12s, yearling steers 10s to 255, extra choice Jersey heifers at the drop £23 to £29, good Shorthorn heifers to £l6 10s, medium to good heifers £ll to £l3 10s, good dairy cows to £2O, old cows £7 to £lO. At Eltham on Wednesday the cattle pens were well filled. Bidding was fairly good and practically everything was sold at satisfactory prices. Fat coWs £6 7s Gd to £7 7s. young sound empty dairy cows £2 to £3, store cows 10s to 20s, yearling Jersey heifers £7 to £7 10s, smaller to £5, mixed heifers £2 17s 6d to £3 Ils, yearling steers 19s to 255, bulls 30s, best Jersey in-calf heifers to £24, others £l4 to £l7, other breeds £lO to £l4, best sound cows to £2O, others £lO upwards. At Hawera on Thursday there was a .good yarding of store cattle and sheep, and an extra heavy entry of dairy stock. Bidding was dragging in the sheep section, but we managed to quit the whole of the entry under the hammer, at satisfactory prices. The demand was somewhat brighter In file store pens, there being more buyers at the low prices. The yarding in the dairy pens was somewhat In excess of the requirements, consequently prices were somewhat low, good heifers however, still commanded good attention and bidding. Forward wethers made 14s, good hoggets 10s 6d, others Cs 10d‘ and Gs 4d, fat cows £6 to £7 10s, store cows 10s to 255, young sound cows £2 to £3, Jersey yearling heifers to £B, smaller to, £5, 2-year-old empty heifers to £5 12s Gd, mixed yearling heifers £3 to £4 2», small to £2 sb, steers to 12s, best dairy heifers £.15 to £lB, medium to good £ll to £l3, others to £lO, best dairy cows to £l6 10s, others to £l2, store pigs £3 to £3 15s, smaller do £2 15s, weaners to 30s.
At Waverley on Friday a good entry of dairy stock and pigs and a medium yarding of store cattle and sheep. Dairy stock sold under good competition, also pigs which were In keen damand, prices for other stock were on a par with late rates. Quotations, best In lamb ewes 14s, hoggets 8s to 8s 6d, forward conditioned 3-year steers to £6 14s, small yearling heifers £2 7s, choice Jersey heifers close to profit £2O, other breeds to £l4 10s, medium to good £lO to £l2 10s, calved heifers £7 to £9‘ best dairy cows £l7 to £l9, others £9 to £l2.
