EXHUMATIONS IN FRANCE.

TO BE STOPPED. THOUGH UNFINISHED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copyright. London, August 27. A Paris correspondent states that the decision has been reached to stop all further exhumations in France on the ground of expense. He points out that, unless the Australian Government vigorously protests in reasonable time, it will be too late to recover 12,000 Australian dead lying unidentified in the battlefields. Instructions have been issued that the remaining exhumation companies shall be disbanded in a month. The correspondent adds that the announcement will be received with consternation. in view of the numbers still being found. It is not unreasonable to suggest an extension of the exhumations for another eix months.
