GAOL FOR FOSTER-MOTHER. By Telegraph. —Press Association Wellington, Last Night. At the Police Court to-day, Mrs. Hill Beckett was charged with ill-treating her adopted child, Dolly Hill Beckett. The evidence disclosed that the child was insufficiently fed and clothed. Her school teacher discovered bruises on the forehead, arms and legs, indicating that the child was severely thrashed. To the police accused admitted beating the child.

After hearing the evidence the magistrate imposed a sentence of three yelks’ impri9o&na»L.
