Tho annual report of the Railway Commissioners shows that tho operation of the railways for the year resulted in a loss of £557,032. STATE LOTTERY OPPOSED. Received August 22, 9.55 p.m.Sydney, August 22. A deputation representative of antigambling bodies and nonconformist churches waited on the Premier and strongly protested against the introduction of a State lottery, which was denounced as a get-rich-quick scheme.
