CHARGE OF FORGING LETTER. By Telegraph —Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the Police Court to-day Henry James Hansen was committed for trial on a charge that “knowing a certain letter, purporting to be written by the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, to be forged, he did deal with it as though it was genuine.” Several residents of Warkworth gave evidence that they received letters aspersing the characters of two Syrian residents. NEW CHURCH BODY. Auckland, Last Night. A meeting of practically every Protestant denomination in the city formed a Council of Christian Congregation. Bishop Averill was elected president.
