A cable from Paris reports that Sarah Bernhardt is seriously ill.
The health of Mr. Newton King Las shown much improvement and he was able to leave Christchurch on Saturday night for Wellington, where he will stay a few days before returning to New Plymouth.
Mr. Justice Salmond is to preside over the New Plymouth Supreme Court sessions, which open to-morrow, and will airive by this evening’s mail train. Mr. W. A. Veitch, M.P. for Wanganui, and Mrs. Veitch, are spending the weekend in Taranaki. They are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Smith. Mr. Veitch will visit the New Plymouth hy-dro-electric works to-day.
