At Newton King, LtA’s, New Plymouth mart yesterday weaner pigs made 10s, Us Gd to 12s; slips 16s to 20s, store pig £1 Ila, sows £3 10s to £4. POULTRY MARKET. NEW PLYMOUTH SALES. Webster Bros report Hens from 4s to 4s 6d. L. A. Nolan and Co., report Hens, young 4s lOd to 7s 6d, old 3s 6d to 3s 9d; pullets, 8s to 9s 3d; cockerels, 5s 6d to 7s; roosters, 3s to ss; drakes, 3s 3d to 3s 7d. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. HIGHER VALUES OBTAINED. Dunedin, August 3. The yarding of sheep and lambs were very small at Burnside to-day. This in all pro-

bability was duo to the fact that the local freezing companies had notified that killing operations had ceased for the season. The offerings met with a good demand, and slightly higher values were obtained. Pigs also were in short supply, and this class of stock realised enhanced values. Fat cattle were in moderate supply, and when the sale closed prices were 10s to 20s in advance of those ruling last week.

Fat Cattle.—A yarding numbering 183 head of medium quality. The sale opened firm at values on a par with late rates, and closed with a decided advance. Prime ox beef was worth, on the average, 44s per 1001 b, and' medium 34s to 38s. Prime bullocks realised from £lB to £2l 12s 6d, medium £l4 10s to £l7, light and unfinished sorts from £9 upwards, prime heifers £l3 to £l4 10s, medium £lO to £l2, light and aged from ,£7 10s upwards.

Store Cattle. —A small yarding was offered, the quality of which was somewhat different. The demand was not brisk, and prices were a shade weaker than those realised at last week's sale.

Sheep.—A medium yarding, numbering 1997 head, Although a number of the peps contained sheep in prime condition, the bulk of the yarding was of medium quality. The demand at the opening of the sale advanced, and closed with prices from Is to Is Gd per head higher than last week's rates. Prime wether mutton made up to 4d per pound, and ewe mutton was in the vicinity of 3%d. Prime heavy-weight wethers realised from 24s to 30s 9d, medium 18s 6d to 235, light and unfinished sorts 15s upwards. Extra prime heavy-weight ewes realised up to 25s 3d, prime 20s to 235, medium 15s to 18s 9d, light and aged, from 12s 6d upwards. Lambs.—The few lambs that were offered (123 head), were not of good quality. These sold at prices ranging from 14s 6d to 20s per head, prime lambs being worth 6%d per pound. Pigs.—A small yarding of all kinds suitable for killing realised increased prices. The demand was keen, and a larger number could easily have been disposed of. Best baconers realised from B%d to 9%d per lb, and best porkers from 9d to 9%d per lb.

ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. RECORD PRICE TOR FAT SHEEP. Christchurch’, August 3. At Addington the annual “Grand National” market was held to-day. There was an outstanding entry of special show beef and mutton from South Otago, North and Canterbury, With several lines from tne North Island. The number of exceptionally prime steers exceeded that of previous years. The top beef price for show stock was £7O, others selling at £63, £55, £5O, £45, and under. A record for the yard was established in fat steep, four purebred two-tooth Suffolk wethers maklug £l6 6s 6d each. Other show wethers sold at £6, £4 Ils, and £4 Is Gd, and hoggets at up to £3 2s.

Excluding show sheep, the mutton yarding was particularly large, comprising about fifteen races. Beef was sent forward in average numbers. -

Store Sheep.—An average yarding and a poor sale., except for good ewes. Fairly good two and four-tooth ewes in lamb realised 20s Id to 25s 4d, fairly good six and eight-tooth ewes in lamb 21s 4d to 22s 6d, ordinary four, six, and eight-tooth ewes in lamb 16s 7d to 17s Bd, sound and falling mouthed ewes in lamb 13s to 17s, two and four-tooth wethers Ils 2d to 13s lid, four and six-tooth wetkers Us 8d to 14s lOd, ewe hoggets 10s to 10s Bd, mixed sex hoggets 9s to 12s lid, wether hoggets 9s Id to 10s Bd. Fat Sheep.—A record yarding and an easing in prices. Prime wethers realised 19s to 31s, medium 18s to 18s 9d, inferior 14s to 15s 9d, prime ewes 17s to 225, medium 14s to 16s 9d, inferior Ils to 13s 6d, hoggets Ils to 18s 6d.

Fat Cattle.—Prices advanced about 30s per head on those of the previous market. Extra prime steers realised £26, prime £l5 to £l9 10s, medium £ll to £l4 10s, light aqd inferior £7 to £lO 10s, extra prime heifers £lB 10s, prime £lO to £l2, medium £7 10s to £9 10s, light and inferior £6 10s to £7 ss, prime cows £lO to £l4 10s, ordinary cows £5 15s to -£9 15s. Vealers.—A sharp rise was experienced. Runners realised £6 10s, good vealers £5 to £5 10s, medluun vealers £3 to £4, small vealers £1 to £2 2s 6d.

Store Cattle.—A line of four-year steers sold for £9.

Dairy Cattle.—A keen demand and an advance in prices. Extra good cows £lB 10s to £23 10s, second and third calvers £8 to £l5 10s, heifers £9 to £l4, aged cows £2 to £6.

Fat Pigs.—An irregular sale, but special choppers went at £lO, choppers realised £3 10s to £l6, extra heavy baconers £7, heavy £5 15s to £6 10s, light £4 15s to £5 10s (average price per lb 8 %d), heavy porkers £4 to £4 10s, light £3 5s to £3 15s (average price per lb 10%d).

Store Pigs.—An easier demand. Large stores realised £2 10s to £3, medium £1 10s to £2 10s, weaners 255, sows in pig £5 ss.

JOHNSONVILLE FAT STOCK SALE. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., and Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report on the above sale. held yesterday, as follows There was the usual amount of stock yarded, and prices on the whole must be considered satisfactory considering the quality of the stock yarded. Ox beef made up as high as 40s per hundred. We quote:

Sheep.—Best wethers 22s 6d, 22s lOd to 23s od, light wethers 18s 3d, 18s lOd, 19s Id to 20s 2d, best ewes 18s lOd to 19s Id, small ewes 14s 6d, best lambs 19s, others 12s 12s 6d to 14s 6d.

Cattle.—Best bullocks £l4 5s to £l5 15s, others £l2 12s 6d, £l3 to £l3 12s 6d, best cows £7 to £8 ss, others £5 12s fid, £G 2s Gd to £6 17s Gd, best vealers £3 5s to £4< 11s, others £2 Is, £2 ss, £2 9s, £2 10s to£2 15s.

T. LAMASON’S SALE. T. Lamasou’s weekly report states: —Last Saturday we held our usual weekly sale, when all lines offered were in good demand. Good laying ducks were eagerly sought after, well bread roosters and drakes also selling well. Quotations: Good laying hens 3s to ss, other lines 2s to 3s, pullets 6s 6d to 10s, p.b. roosters 7s 6d, 10s to 18s, others 2s to 3s, ducks 3s to ss, p.b. drakes 5s to 7s Gd, geese 5s to 7s, barberry 7s 6d to 8s Gd per 100, cow covers Us Gd to 235, horse covers 47s 6d» kapoc Is calf meal 18s per 1001 b, wut. aa«k> poUaxfi sack, kaxlty
