Sydney, August 3 The management of the Commonwealth steamers is inaugurating a weekly service to the United Kingdom via Suez calling at Colombo, commeinIng at the end of the year with the More ton Bay, a 12,500 ton vessel being built in England. Four others are in course of construction. LABOR AND MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. Brisbane. August 3. The Assembly opens on Tuesday. The Metropolitan ' District Labor Council expressed the opinion that the Government must shoulder the responsibility for the defeat of Labor candidates at the municipal elections, and passed a resolution that the council is of opinion that if the Government is not prepared to adhere to the principles of the Labor platform it had better resign office. In the Assembly, the 1/a.bor Party has given notice of motion of censure in the form of an amendment to the Address-in-Reply protesting against Government de-control of wheat.
