Johnny Buff beat Jabez White on points in a twelve-round bout for the fly-weight championship of America.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. TARANAKI ASSOCIATION, THE FORTHCOMING TOURNAMENT. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held at the Soldiers’ Club, New Plymouth, last night, when Mr. E. Whittle (the president.) presided over a good attendance of members. In connection with the Taranaki amateur provincial championships, which have been offered to the Eltham Association this year, a letter was received from the ElthaJn Association asking whether the central executive was prepared to share any loss, pointing out that any profit would go to the centre funds. It was pointed out by the chairman that as the championships had been held in New Plymouth last, year, it was considered advisable to give one of the other associations an opportunity of running them this year, the idea being that tte championships should be held in each town in turn, and the Eltham Association had undertaken to run the tournament this year. It was resolved to inform the Eltham Association that this association is not prepared to accept any financial liability in connection with the proposed championships, fit the event, of the Eltham Association notifying that it is unable to run the championships, the Taranaki championships will be offered to the Stratford Sports and Pastimes Club, and failing their acceptance the Taranaki Association will be prepared to run thorn again. Complete arrangements were made for me tournament which is to be held in the Coronation Hall on Saturday, August 13. Tho principal bout is tho professional fight by L. Cadman, of Auckland, and L. McAsey, of Lepperton, for a purse of 100 sovs., fifteen threeminute rounds. The amateur bouts will be between S. Hope (New Plymouth) and Coates (Omata) ; Willis (New Plymouth) and Cloary (Omata) ; and C’oombes (Oacmui) and Sharrock (Stratford).
