The Madrid correspondent of the Daily Express states that the insurrection in Morocco has wrested from Spain, all the gains of twelve years’ patient efforts, which involve an aggregate loss of 25,000 men and £600,000. The rebels reconquered ah the territory between Altrucenras and Melilla. They were directed by men educated in European military academies, able to competently handle large bodies of troops. The authorities declare that fifty thousand i reinforcements are necessary to restore the situation, but fear the attitude of the Spanish populace v/as hostile to the continuation of a costly and resultless cam-paign.—Aus.-N.Z.
