RETAIL SHOPS IN ENGLAND. FARMERS’ UNION PLOPOSAD. By Telegraph—-Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Produce marketing wan discussed bj the Dominion Farmers’ Union eonfurenc* to-day. It was decided: “That this union advocates a national marketing scheme for wool, meat and dairy produce, to bo controlled by the producer through boards with proper powers, tc be obtained through legislation.” During the discussion the establish ment of retail shops and depots for th< sale of meat in England was advooatec by members and the Union was advisee to concentrate its attention against trusts. It was contended by Mr. Lyssa: (Gisborne) that the slump in Britaii was deliberately engineered. Mr. Me Pherson (Oamaru), supporting the mo tion for the establishment of retai.' shops in England, asked what waa the use of having a farmers’ shipping com pany if the meat was going Home to g< into the hands of trusts. A committee was appointed io take steps to carry out the resolution.
