MILKING RETURNS.
SOME DOMINION YIELDS. NEW PLYMOUTH BREEDER’S SUCCESS. For the six months commencing January 1 and ending June 30, 1921, the number of dairy cows qualifying for the certificate-of-record was comparatively small, owing to the fact that few cows complete their test during the first six months of the year. Three breeds were represented, and some excellent yields were recorded. In mature Jerseys J. Hale’s (New Plymouth) Jersey Bank Treasure topped the list with a yield of 13,2041bs of milk and 717.021bs of butter-fat. In mature Friesians W. D. Hunt’s (Invercargill) Oakwood Rambler yielded 23,952.61bs of . milk and 820.931bs of butter-fat. In mature Milking Shorthorns Ranstead Brothers’ (Matangi) Maniaroa Princess yielded 15,951.71bs of milk for the season, and 700.761bs of butter-fat. The best yield from a senior two-year-old Jersey was 5929.51bs of milk, which produced 313.881bs of butter-fat, and from a Friesian senior two-year-old belonging to H. North and Sons (Omiini) 666.691bs of butter-fat was produced from 16,6491bs of milk. In the junior two-year-olds a Jersey produced 452.721bs of butter-fat, and a Friesian 437.851b5.
