FIRE AT PALMERSTON.
TWENTY-FIRST THIS YEAR. Ry Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. Palmerston North’s twenty-first fire in 1921 occurred on Saturday night in the premises of Messrs. M. Ross and Co., Ltd., drapers, in the Square. The tire, the origin of which is a mystery, started in a millinery work-room upstairs, and the brigade made a good save, preventing its opread to otner wooden portions of the building. The millinery workroom was gutted, largo quantities of the new season's goods being destroyed. The damage in th’w department is estimated' at £3OO to £5OO. The content.? of the. workroom were not insured. Water damaged the stocks in the boot department and the men’s mercery and clothing departments to the extent of £BOOO, and the insurance on these departments is £15,000.
