BRITAIN'S NAVY.
MOVE TO STOP BUILDING. DANGER OF LOSING PLACE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 20, 8.55 p.m. London, July 19. The Daily Express understands that a strong Ministerial group is endeavoring to hamper the building of the four new naval ships proposed in this year’s estimates. Lord Beatty and Mr. Winston Churchill, who are in the minority, favor their immediate construction, reminding the Government that if these ships a're not built the British Navy will sink to third place among the world Powers by the end of 1924. The present officially accepted standard of British sea strength is equality with the strongest other naval Power, and Britain has thus abandoned the two-Power standard, which she maintained fqr more than sixty years.—Aus.-N.Z.
