Knight and Alexander, of the Canterbury Agricultural College, were lengthily examined regarding agricultural teaching' methods in the Dominion. REDUCED WOOL FREIGHTS. Melbourne, July 19. The Commonwealth Shipping Board has agreed to a 10 per cent, rebate on ■ wool freights, in conformity with over-, ’seas companies. SHEEP-FEEDING BY AVIATORS. Sydney, July 19. A second aeroplane commissioned to carry food to the marooned sheep found the first machine disabled and the men I attending the sheep stricken by sick■ness. The second niacliifie was not able Ito re-start, and both aviators spent the i day in endeavoring to repair either I machine, succeeding the following day with the first, which was subsequently | found to have badly broken a cylinder. ! Trips are now made from Garah and I the men and sheep are receiving regular supplies of food and showing improvement as the result of nourishment. THE 44-HOUR WEEK. Sydney, July 19. Notwithstanding the recent decision of the 44-hour week, the Court refused to abolish Saturday work in the* build- i ing trades. A number of plasterers ab- i sented themselves on Saturday, and the ( employers declined -to re-engage them 1 on Monday unless they agree to Satur- j day work. A mass meeting of the men decided to, adhere to the 44 hours and five days. INFLUENZA IN SYDNEY, Sydney, July 19. Influenza is very prevalent, and is' spreading among the staffs of public offices and business houses, which are' much depleted. The type is highly infectious, but comparatively mild. There are few pneumonic or gastric cases.
